The right tool for tough shredding tasks
The pre-shredder is a low-speed, high-torque twin-shaft crusher. Because of its special blade geometry, it is suited for the tearing pre-shredding of very large or voluminous materials (such as domestic, industrial, commercial, bulky and construction waste).
Both rotor shafts engage the feed material. The shafts rotate alternately inward and outward. Each shaft is equipped with several tearing tools. The rotating tearing shaft assembly is surrounded by a stationary tearing table. Scrapers on the table prevent the material from coiling up or adhering to the machine. The shredding takes place between the rotating tearing tools and the tearing table or crossbeam and scraper. During processing, the machine automatically carries out a sequence involving different directions of rotation. As soon as the feed material has reached the desired size, it exits the machine through the bottom.
Universal Shredder (NGU)
Continuous high-performance shredder
The Universal Shredder (NGU) is a high-speed single-shaft shredder designed for pre- and post-shredding of any material that can be cut. This includes paper, files, data media, textiles, cables, plastics and packaging. It shreds the feed material to a size between 10 and 120 mm.
The loose feed material is loaded into the infeed hopper. A hydraulically driven slide pushes the material along the base plate and toward the shredding system. The feed material is shredded between the rotor equipped with blades and the counter-blade on the static blade seat. Once the shredded material reaches a defined particle size, it falls out of the machine through a screen basket. The size of the discharge material is defined by the hole pitch of the screen. It can range from 10 to 120 mm.
The BHS Universal Shredder has been designed for conventional recycling facilities and use in the manufacturing industry. The primary goal for both applications is to achieve low processing costs per metric ton.
SpeedCut Granulator (NGV)
On-target particle size for light, bulky materials
The BHS SpeedCut Granulator (NGV) is a high-speed single-shaft cutter designed for the secondary sizing of bulky, light, elastic and brittle materials. The input material is cut between the rotor equipped with fly blades and the static blade seat. The final product has the desired particle size.
The feed material is cut between the rotor equipped with blades and the static blade seat. A screen is located beneath the rotor. Oversize materials unable to pass through the screen will be transported back to the top of the rotor and cut again. As a result, the final product has the desired particle size with a low proportion of undersized particles.

The BHS SpeedCut Granulator is characterized by a sturdy design, high throughput rates and minimal need for maintenance. The rotor consists of a solid forged part. The blades ensure clean cutting results and are also simple to adjust and replace. The special V-shaped arrangement of the blade seats on the rotor ensures reliable material infeed and optimal cutting results. The blade seats are welded to the main body of the rotor. The modular static blade seat is equipped with multiple blade segments in series. This modular design enables easy adjustment of the static blades, thus ensuring consistent cutting quality. The screen below the rotor operates on a hydraulic swivel, which allows for easy cleaning as well as screen replacement without dismantling the conveyor system located beneath it.
Biomass – efficient substrate processing
The BHS Biogrinder is used in the processing of biomass for biogas generation. The machine achieves intensive mechanical pre-processing of the energy crops, thus accelerating the gas yield and stabilizing the entire fermentation process. The Biogrinder is built for continuous operation, has a rugged design and is easy to operate and maintain.
The result is a homogeneously shredded, flaky and well-defibrated substrate with a large particle surface. This significantly accelerates gas production by micro-organisms in the fermenter. Even feed materials that are considered difficult or impossible to recycle can be processed, providing access to low-priced raw materials. Other advantages include reduced agitator use and a reduction of floating layers.
Rotor impact mill (RPMV & RPMX)
The BHS rotor impact mill is a high-performance crusher with a vertical shaft that addresses the needs of the recycling industry. The mill’s unique impeller rotor works together with a toothed anvil ring to subject the inserted material to severe mechanical stress. Material compounds are crushed and separated selectively, entangled materials are isolated, and brittle-hard materials are crushed very finely. At the same time, metals are shaped into balls and cleaned.
The impeller rotor of the BHS rotor impact mill is the only one of its kind in the world. The circumferential speed of the rotor generates centrifugal forces that deliver a high energy load to the inserted material, which is intensely processed by the impact and shear forces caused by the crushing tools. As a result of the rotation, a near-permanent gap is created between the tips of the horseshoe-shaped impellers and the anvil ring. Once the material has been reduced to a size that fits through this gap, it exits the crushing zone.
The machine can be optimally adjusted to customer requirements using the rotor speed and the variable annular gap.
